Maybe this should be a revolving installment until we can get some answers on this issue. Several of you have written in that the site located approximately at 34th & SW Graham streets is actually just a staging ground for construction at High Point Phase II. I would agree that this is the likeliest of cases since HPB had previously suggested that the fenced-off footprint seemed too small fit a retail/mixed use center. In the midst of all the fog this morning though, High Point Blog caught construction-like activities taking place on the actual site. Also, there is an increasing abundance of construction equipment on the site and it just seems like with the abundance of space available much closer to the immediate area near Phase II that it’s a little strange that the “headquarters” would be so far away from the actual construction site.High Point Blog will be closely monitoring the site in the next few days and will try to get some images up of the reported construction activities. I am truly starting to suspect that something is being built on that spot and that it’s our neighborly right to know what it is.

At the HOA meeting on Thursday, Sept. 27th, the Board President confirmed that the trailers located on the land that is advertised to be commercial area are for Stage 2, and not the commercial building itself. He said we will see a sign posted before the building is set to start. Hope this helps!

So there we have it. Can’t wait for the commercial building to start.

I don’t have it in front of me, but I think the flyer that came in the mail friday indicated the “commercial area” now includes a coffee shop and *200 units of market rate housing*.
If that is not a typo, then it seems to indicate either a change or another of those “fibs” we were told at the pre rebuild meetings.
No grocery store of course, but no one really believed that whopper anyway.

I know this is off topic but are there any concerns on the neighborhood violence that has been going on since last month. I heard about two weeks ago, there was a gang fight with gun shots around 31st and 32nd and Graham st. I also witnessed teens coming into HP and try to jump one of kids in the lower income housing area. Its a growing concern to me and other neighbors. I heard that the police weren’t responsive and didn’t seem to much care about the situation. As a resident I really care about this Neighborhood and movement but having fights and gang violence is not acceptable. I know coming in here that there might be some of these kind of issues, and I’m very concerned about the lower income families bringing in questionable people that don’t live in HP. I really think there needs to be a way we can keep HP in the right direction and not let those few people mess up what is known to be a really great thing in Seattle. I would like to hear some input by HPB and what ideas can work to keep HP safe and a great place to live.

Yes; their will be construction happening at this location (Block 9 – SE Corner of Property) in the next months to come. However it it will be a multi family building with 3 units. The retail will not begin until sometime in 2009.
